Return after Tragedy
Former Tampa Bay Lightning forward Dominic Moore went through something last season nobody wants to experience. He lost his wife, Katie Moore, to an aggressive form of cancer.
On July 5, the day NHL free agency opened, Moore signed with the New York Rangers marking his return to the NHL following his devastating loss and taking a season off. Everyone will be rooting for the New Rangers next season and moving forward, including Lightning forward Nate Thompson who tweeted this amidst Moore signing with the Rangers:
Heartfelt thank you for the well-wishes and support. It means so much. Can't wait for the start of the season.— Dominic Moore (@mooredom) July 8, 2013
Nate, who played with Moore in Tampa Bay, knows he is a class act and represents the NHL well. I think it is safe to say we all wish Dominic the best of luck this season.

SI.com did a feature this week on athletes and their childhood pictures.
I guess Lightning star Marty St. Louis' mom dug through her scrapbook and pulled out a picture to send in, much like every other mom tends to do for senior yearbooks and to show off to significant others. Many times it brings about a laugh.
However, St. Louis' childhood photo, which can be seen here: doesn't look much different than he does now. Just a little bit of facial hair is the biggest contrast. I wonder just how much bigger Marty is now than he was at his kindergarten graduation?
Shots were fired over the Twitter world on Friday between ESPN and the San Jose Sharks.
In light of the premier of "Sharknado" on television Thursday night and the Twitter explosion the syfy flic has caused, ESPN tweeted at the San Jose Sharks asking the organization if they have considered changing their name to the San Jose Sharknado's.
Hey @espn, thoughts on showing more hockey highlights?— San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) July 12, 2013
