The Tampa Bay Lightning will once again grow mustaches during the month of November in support of “Movember”, a global movement which raises money and awareness for men’s health issues, and they are encouraging their fans to do to the same.

Lightning fans should log on to www.tampabaylightning.com/movember to register and create their profile. Once they are registered they will have the ability to join one of four teams. Teams are being captained by Bolts players Ryan Malone, Nate Thompson and Teddy Purcell, as well as mascot ThunderBug. Fans are also able to start their own team within the Lightning network. Once they have their team, fans should encourage friends and family to donate to their page as they grow their mustache during the 30 days in the month of November. It isn’t just for men either, all Lightning fans should participate, including women. The top 25 fundraisers within the Lightning Network will receive a pair of tickets to the November 29 game and have the opportunity to attend a player meet and greet following the game.

The Bolts will also be running a Movember mustache contest during the month of November. Fans are encouraged to post their photos on their Movember profiles throughout the month. There will be five finalists selected via social media at @TBLightning on Twitter and www.facebook.com/lightning.nhl. The winner will be announced during the Lightning’s game on November 29 against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The grand prize is a pair of season tickets for all remaining home games as well as complimentary haircuts for a year compliments of Great Clips. For more information, visit TampaBayLightning.com/Movember.

Great Clips will also be distributing mustaches on Ford Thunder Alley before the Lightning’s game this Saturday, November 2 against the St. Louis Blues. Fans will also be able to make donations to the cause at the Great Clips tent.

Movember is global movement whose vision is to have an everlasting impact on the face of men’s health. During November each year Movember is responsible for the growing of millions of moustaches on faces around the world. The program raises vital funds and awareness to combat prostate and testicular cancer, as well as mental health challenges. Since being started in 2003 in Melbourne, Australia, Movember has grown to become a truly worldwide movement inspiring more than 3 million “Mo Bros and Mos Sistas” to participate across 21 countries. In 2012, more than 1.1 million people joined the movement, raising $147 million (USD). In the United States more than 209,000 people raised $21 million.
