3 Reasons Valtteri Filppula is an Asset to the Bolts
Valtteri Filppula came to the Tampa Bay Lightning with something to prove in the 2013-14 campaign. The Bolts acquired Filppula as a free agent after a mediocre 2012-2013 season with the Detroit Red Wings. He has since proven those days are behind him.
Here are three reasons why Filppula is an asset to the Bolts:
1. Filppula has proven he is dependable in the shootout, going 3-for-3 with two of those shootout goals being game-winners.
2. As of late, he has increased the amount of shots he has taken on net, along with the rest of the Bolts. In the Vantaa, Finland native’s last four games, he has contributed 13 shots on goal. Prior to those four games, it took him 12 games to amass that same amount.
3. With the mentality that every game is a playoff game this year for the Bolts, Filppula’s playoff experience, including a Stanley Cup Championship, has prepared him to handle this type of atmosphere. He has recorded 57 points in 105 playoff games.
