University of Minnesota Golden Gophers netminder and Tampa Bay Lightning prospect, Adam Wilcox, has earned the honor of Lightning Prospect of the Week.

Wilcox is second in the nation for wins in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Following a 1-0 shutout of Michigan State on Saturday, Wilcox now boasts an 18-2-5 record. The whitewash was Wilcox's third shutout of the 2013-14 season and helped to extend the Gopher's NCAA-best unbeaten streak to 14 games. The sophomore has played in 25 games with a .720 win percentage.

The Gophers, who currently sit atop the NCAA Men's ice hockey standings, have been led by Wilcox's .931 save percentage. He is also a Hobey Baker Award nominee, (an award previously earned by current Lightning defenseman Matt Carle in 2006), which is given to the top NCAA men's ice hockey player. This year's award will be presented on April 11.

Last year as a freshman the St. Paul, Minn. native registered a 25-8-5 record, this tied an 11-year-old record set by former Gophers goaltender, Kellen Briggs, for rookie wins. Wilcox also boasted a 1.88 goals-against average, setting a new Minnesota single-season record.

Next on the schedule for the Gophers is a trip to ninth-ranked Wisconsin next weekend. Minnesota will then return home the following week for its first-ever Big Ten conference series against No. 12 Michigan.
