Prospect Performer of the Week: Jonathan Drouin
After being named the Hockey News\' top prospect, Jonathan Drouin is showcased as the Lightning prospect performer of the week.

Tampa Bay Lightning prospect and Halifax Mooseheads forward, Jonathan Drouin, now sits just four spots behind Anthony Mantha as the Quebec Major Junior League’s (QMJHL) leader in points with 96. After a week that he amassed 10 points through just three games, the 18-year-old helped the Mooseheads to their 10th straight win. During Halifax’s win streak, Drouin also collected a career-high six points in one game (one goal, five assists).

The 5-foot-11, 192-pound center was also recently selected as the NHL’s top prospect and featured on the cover of Hockey News’ annual Future Watch edition. The selection comes from the expertise of a panel of 17 NHL scouts and general managers to determine the top 75 drafted prospects, of which Drouin was chosen as No. 1.

The Ste-Agathe, Quebec, native was selected by Tampa Bay third overall in the first round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, following being awarded the QMJHL Michel Brière Trophy as Most Valuable Player, the Michael Bossy Trophy as the QMJHL’s top draft prospect and the QMJHL’s Playoff MVP Guy Lafleur Trophy. Drouin also skated in six games with Team Canada at the 2013 IIHF Junior World U-20 Championships in Ufa, Russia, recording two goals and four points in six games.

With only three games left in the 2013-2014 season, the Mooseheads will look to Drouin to help extend their win streak and lead them into the QMJHL playoffs, which is slated to begin March 20th.
