The search has begun for the 2015-16 Lightning Girls team!

Interested females must be 18 years of age or older and must have a high school diploma or general education diploma (GED).

How to register prior to Audition Day:

Serious candidates are advised to submit a resume and one 5x7 headshot, and the Lightning Girls Application by July 24, 2015. Although not required, we are also asking for and a two-minute video DVD (or web link to video) expressing your desire to be a Lightning Girl and any special or unique talents and any related skills you may have. This will help us get to know the candidates prior to the auditions and these applicants will be heavily considered.

How to register on Audition Day:

Candidates registering day of auditions are advised to arrive at 9am at the USF Sundome with a photo ID, headshot, and resume. Registration will close at 10am. See audition day information below.

Audition Day Information:

WHEN: July 26th, 2015
Registration: 9 a.m. - 10 a.m.
Preliminary Auditions: 10 a.m.
Final Auditions: 1:00 p.m. 
*Advancing candidates are required to remain at auditions.

WHERE: USF Sundome** Dance, cheer preferred, and skating experienced preferred but not necessary.

All participants are asked to enter the SunDome at Gate D. Attendants will be available to direct you to the Auditions that will be held inside the building. Parking will be located in Lot 6 at the SunDome.


Audition Day is open to females over the age of 18 with a High School Diploma or GED. Must have flexible evening and weekend schedules for a once a week rehearsal, home games and appearances. Experienced ice skaters are a plus, but it is not necessary.

Material to bring:

  • Application requirements (resume, 5x7 photo, application)
  • Photo ID to register
  • Water, towel, snack
  • Half-top or sports bra, hot shorts, skin colored tights, and dance shoes or sneakers
  • Full performance make-up and hair

What to expect:

Round 1: All applicants will learn choreographed material and perform.

Round 2:: Advancing applicants will learn new choreographed material to perform. Those who advance will be brought in for interviews during the coming week. Although the auditions are dance based, final decisions are not made on dance skill and technique alone. Advanced dancers and beginners are invited out to participate in this fun day!

Although the auditions are dance based, we will NOT be making our final decisions on dance skill and technique alone. Advanced dancers and beginners are welcome to participate in auditions.
