Bolts Seek to Begin New Win Streak

The Tampa Bay Lightning will try to get back on the winning track against the Philadelphia Flyers at the Wachovia Center tonight.

For the Lightning, 4-4-4, this will be the first of four meetings against Philadelphia, 4-5-3, with the second contest not taking place until January 15th in Tampa.

The two teams, which sport very similar records at this early stage of the season, both got off to slower starts than hoped for.

Tampa Bay, in the midst of a five game road swing, is coming off a tough loss to the Rangers which had loads of good points. They out shot the Rangers 38 – 35 and out hit them 38 -33. For the Bolts, the hit total marked their season high.

Martin St. Louis will be trying to keep his two-game goal streak alive against the Flyers. For St. Louis, the back-to-back games with a goal has elevated his season point total to nine, tied with former Flyer Vaclav Prospal for second on the team, one point behind Captain Vincent Lecavalier.

The Flyers are led by center Mike Richards with 15 points and Jeff Carter, who leads the team in goals with nine.

After tonight’s contest the Lightning will have two more games on the road before returning to the St. Pete Times Forum on November 13th, to begin a five game home stand.
