Lightning try to avoid elimination in Game 4
Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Montréal Canadiens

CANADIENS at LIGHTNING

7 p.m. Tuesday at the Bell Centre

(Montreal leads best-of-seven series 3-0)

TV/RADIO: Fox Sports Florida, NHL Network-US, CBC, RDS; AM 970 WFLA

BIG STORY: Tampa Bay played its best game of the series Sunday, but still fell short, 3-2. The team will try to avoid elimination in Game 4 Tuesday at the Bell Centre.

A Habs’ goal 11 seconds into the contest Sunday night set the tone early, as Montreal played its first game at home this postseason. The Lightning showed signs of life though, when Ondrej Palat scored his first goal of the playoffs on the power play in the second period after missing Game 2. Tampa Bay then had a chance to take its first lead since the second period of Game 1, but the goal was controversially waived off. Brendan Gallagher and Tomas Plekanec scored to put the Canadiens up 3-1. Though Matt Carle scored soon after, the Lightning could not overcome a two-goal deficit, dropping its third straight game of the first round series.

“We just have to win one game,” Steven Stamkos said. “That’s our motto right now, win one, go back home and see what happens.”

With their backs against the wall, this Bolts squad has never found themselves in a win-or-go home scenario yet, making it hard to replicate a situation like this. Tampa Bay has therefore chosen to take it one game at a time. With the possibility of elimination, that's all the Lightning has to focus on at this point.

Stamkos, who was hit in the head by Alexei Emelin’s knee on Sunday, also said he is feeling no ill effects. The Lightning captain left Game 3 late in the second period after the hit, but returned at the start of the third and later factored in on Carle's tally.

WHO’S HOT: Ondrej Palat scored a power-play goal, his first of the postseason, and Steven Stamkos added two assists. Stamkos has four points (two goals, two assists) in the first round series…Rene Bourque scored his third goal of the series Sunday and led all players with eight shots in the contest. P.K. Subban has four assists in his past two playoff games.

INJURY REPORT: Lightning – G Ben Bishop (upper body, out), D Brian Lee (knee, out), D Sami Salo (upper body, day-to-day); CANADIENS – F Alex Galchenyuk (lower body, out), Travis Moen (concussion, day-to-day)
