ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - Francois Beauchemin and his Anaheim teammates had been putting in extra practice on the power play, with good reason.

After going 1-for-22 on the power play over four games, the Mighty Ducks scored twice in seven chances Wednesday night to end Tampa Bay's five-game winning streak with a 4-2 victory.

Beauchemin assisted on Anaheim's first two goals, then scored the third himself.

"It was just one of those nights were I was able to take the puck to the net," the Mighty Ducks' defenseman said. "We have been working on our power play and it paid off."

The three points were a career high for the 25-year-old Beauchemin, who has six points in his last five games. His third-period goal that put the Ducks up 3-1 was only his second in the NHL.

"I've gotten the opportunity to play with Scott Niedermayer, who is the best defenseman in the league. That has given me confidence as well," said Beauchemin, who spent 2004-05 with Syracuse in the AHL and came to Anaheim as part of the trade last month that sent Sergei Fedorov to Columbus.

Anaheim goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere stopped 22 shots in the Ducks' victory over the defending Stanley Cup champions, giving up Vaclav Prospal's late goal after allowing a goal by Brad Richards early in the second period.

"We are a big team and when we put bodies on their guys, it works for us," Giguere said. "That's the thing we need to do, especially in our house. The whole team is playing very well right now."

Coach Randy Carlyle agreed.

"Tonight was our best team effort of the year," he said. "We started to shoot the puck and got some breaks. It was a high-paced game."

Zenon Konopka and Todd Marchant scored second-period goals for Anaheim, and Rob Niedermayer added an empty-net goal in the waning seconds as Anaheim also halted Tampa Bay goalie John Grahame's personal winning streak at nine. Grahame faced 33 shots.

Beauchemin capped his big night with a power-play goal at 8:20 of the third period to give Anaheim a two-goal lead. Andy McDonald, right of the goal near the goal line, passed across the crease and Grahame sprawled forward but couldn't completely block the pass. Beauchemin, near the left post, poked the bouncing puck into the net.

Prospal scored with 2:46 left cut it to 3-2, but Rob Niedermayer's ninth goal built the Ducks' lead back.

Prospal's goal was his 14th, but his first in 12 games.

"So it was good for me to get one past Giguere," he said. "Unfortunately, it didn't mean anything for us."

After falling behind 1-0 early in the second period, the Ducks came back quickly to score twice in a 43-second span.

Konopka gave Anaheim the lead when he scored on a power play at 5:12 of the second. He deflected Beauchemin's shot from the top of the left circle and the puck sailed past Grahame on the stick side, just inside the left post.

The Lightning goalie had just given up a goal to Marchant, with that shot just inside the right post. Marchant tied it when he redirected Scott Niedermayer's shot from the right point at 4:29.

Notes: The Lightning went 1-of-7 on the power play. ... The last time the teams met, Giguere stopped 31 shots at Tampa in a 2-0 victory on Dec. 29, 2003, for his only road shutout of that season.
