TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - John Grahame has a simple mind-set.
``I just think, `No mistakes! No mistakes! Give this team a chance to win,''' Grahame said.
The Tampa Bay goalie did just that Saturday night, making 29 saves for his third shutout in his past four games in the Lightning's 5-0 win over the Washington Capitals.
Grahame stopped Alexander Ovechkin's shot from the right circle with 5 minutes to play, one of his key saves in his fifth shutout of the season and 12th overall.
Brad Richards scored a short-handed goal with 4:27 left in the second, and added a power-play score from the top of the left circle to give Tampa Bay a 4-0 lead with 1:05 remaining in the period.
The Lightning are 4-0-1 in their past five home games after starting the season 11-9-1.
``We did what we had to ... start re-establishing us at home,'' Tampa Bay coach John Tortorella said.
Ruslan Fedotenko had a goal and two assists for Tampa Bay, which has won seven of nine. The Lightning also got goals from Ryan Craig and Norman Milley.
Tampa Bay center Vincent Lecavalier missed the game with what team officials called an upper body injury. He's one of three Tampa Bay players on Canada's roster for the Turin Olympics. Lightning general manager Jay Feaster said Lecavalier could return for Monday night's game at the New York Islanders.
Ovechkin, who had six shots, was held pointless and remains one point away from tying Washington's rookie scoring record. Bob Carpenter and Chris Valentine each scored 67 points in 1981-82.
Richards' line was matched up against Ovechkin's throughout the game.
``He's dangerous,'' Richards said. ``He made some plays, but we kept him off the board and helped Johnny out.''
The Capitals have lost five of seven.
Fedotenko tied a Tampa Bay record for the fastest goal to start a game when his soft wrist shot went between goalie Brent Johnson's pads at 11 seconds. Dino Ciccarelli also scored 11 seconds into a 4-1 victory over Washington on Feb. 15, 1997.
``You shoot the puck, and hopefully good things happen,'' Fedotenko said. ``It changed up a little bit.
Johnson had 32 saves.
``I'm not down,'' Johnson said. ``I feel like I had a strong game after the first goal. They got a couple deflections. It would have been a lot worst if it was a close game and a soft goal like that went in.''
``I don't know if it's a lack of concentration. I think that first goal was probably the easiest shot of the game. It went in and put us behind right from the start,''
Craig's rebound goal made it 2-0 with 4:14 left in the first. The rookie has eight goals in 20 games. Milley gave Tampa Bay a five-goal advantage with a power-play goal with 3:59 to play.
``We owe those guys, and we'll get them next time,'' Johnson said. ``It's almost like I wish we could play them again right now. Go out and have another game and just do it from the start again.''
According to the Capitals, this was the first time two second-generation NHL goalies played against each other in a league game. Johnson's father Bob played for St. Louis and Pittsburgh, while Grahame's father Ron spent time with Boston, Los Angeles and Quebec.
Notes: Lightning D Darryl Sydor (facial laceration) returned after missing two games. ... Washington played without C Jeff Halpern (back) and RW Matt Bradley (foot).
