TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -Islanders coach Ted Nolan has joined the list of coaches unhappy with the officiating.
Dmitry Afanasenkov scored the lone shootout goal in the seventh round, leading the Tampa Bay Lightning past New York 3-2 on Friday night.
The Lightning, who took an early two-goal lead, did not have a penalty. The Islanders received three minor penalties, including two in the opening 4 minutes of play.
"When eyeballs are closed, I guess," Nolan said when asked about the last time he had a game without a power play. "I'm not too sure. There were a few penalties out there, but they missed the calls. It's one of those things. They had a no-hitter."
Tampa Bay coach John Tortorella had expressed his displeasure with the officials after a 3-1 loss to Montreal on Wednesday, saying afterward "for the most part this year, I think the refs have done a pretty good job. But tonight, to me, was an absolute horror show, both ways."
"They got all the calls tonight," Nolan said. "I guess you complain, you get the calls. They complained pretty good in the papers the last couple of days, and we didn't get any calls our way. But to fight back from 2-0, especially against a team like this, you have to be happy about that."
Lightning goalie Johan Holmqvist, who stopped 29 shots in regulation, didn't allow a goal during the shootout. He earlier made a glove save on an in-close shot by Viktor Kozlov with 42.8 seconds left in the third.
"He was rock solid," Tortorella said. "I thought he made some huge saves at key times. We were flat for a good 25, 30 minutes of that hockey game after a good start."
Andy Hilbert's shot went off Holmqvist's glove and hit the post on the Islanders' last shootout attempt.
"I feel good, my confidence is good," said Holmqvist, who has won his last five starts. "The only thing you can just do is try and stay focused."
New York's Rick DiPietro made 36 saves, including one on Vincent Lecavalier during a 2-on-1 with 1:29 left in overtime.
"It was a good character point," Islanders center Mike Sillinger said. "Ricky played a fantastic game. It was kind of sad that he got the loss. I don't think he deserved that."
Nikita Alexeev and Brad Richards scored for Tampa Bay. Lecavalier, who had an 11-game point streak end Wednesday, had two assists.
The Islanders got goals from Radek Martinek and Mike York. New York had a four-game road winning streak end.
Alexeev scored off a pass from Lecavalier during a 2-on-1, and Richards had a power-play goal to put Tampa Bay up 2-0 5 minutes into the game. Martinek made it 2-1 at the 8-minute mark when he stopped a 49-game goal-scoring drought.
After DiPietro stopped Richards on a breakaway late in the second, York pulled the Islanders even at 2-all from the right circle with 39 seconds left in the period.
Notes: Craig MacTavish of Edmonton and Bob Hartley of Atlanta are two of the latest coaches to be fined for critical remarks made about officiating. ... Lightning captain Tim Taylor (bruised spine) didn't play and had his consecutive game streak end at 264. He is day to day. ... Martinek's goal was his first since Jan. 19 at Carolina. ... Richards has five goals and nine points during an eight-game point streak. ... Kozlov assisted on York's goal for his 400th career point.
