PHILADELPHIA (AP) -Vincent Lecavalier's new shooting style paid off in an overtime victory for the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Lecavalier scored in regulation and then added a goal in the tiebreaker as the Lightning extended Philadelphia's franchise-worst home losing streak to 11 with a 4-3 victory over the Flyers on Tuesday night.
Lecavalier tried to change speeds when he went for the shootout goal against Philadelphia's Robert Esche, who stopped 30 shots in regulation.
"I tried to go fast and slowed down to make sure the goalie's tempo is off," Lecavalier said. "I don't know if that really worked, but I saw the gap between the leg open and I shot there as quickly as I could."
Martin St. Louis, and Ruslan Fedotenko also scored for the Lightning, who have won six straight road games. Brad Richards scored the other goal in the 2-0 shootout.
"We got lucky," Richards said. "It was a sloppy game by us but we were resilient and got two points which is what we needed. We've been very resilient away from home."
Mike Richards, Jeff Carter, and Peter Forsberg had goals for the Flyers, who have not won at home since Nov. 24 when they beat Columbus in former Flyers coach Ken Hitchcock's debut behind the Blue Jackets bench.
Richards said despite the Flyers' good effort, it was another disappointing loss.
"We played a pretty good game," Richards said. "We came out with a lot of energy. We did what we wanted to do and executed our game plan."
Tampa Bay's Johan Holmqvist had 29 saves before posting a perfect shootout against Simon Gagne and Forsberg.
"I was trying to wait as long as I could for both shooters," Holmqvist said. "For Gagne, I was really patient and I knew that I could follow him back and forth."
St. Louis put Tampa Bay ahead by putting a rebound into an open net at 6:32 of the second period while the Lightning had a two-man advantage.
The Flyers responded, taking a 2-1 lead with a pair of short-handed goals.
Mike Richards picked up a loose puck deep in the Flyers zone, skated down the right side, and scored on a slap shot from the right circle 51 seconds after St. Louis' goal.
Carter, streaking toward the crease, took a pass from Gagne and poked the puck in at 18:49.
"Gagne made a great play," Carter said. "I think he just kind of ran out of options and so he just spun and fired."
The Lightning tied it 35 seconds later on a power-play goal by Fedotenko, who scored on a one-timer from the right circle.
Forsberg and Lecavalier traded deflected goals in the third period.
Forsberg's goal bounced in off defenseman Nolan Pratt at 3:13.
Lecavalier tied it at 3 by redirecting a shot by Filip Kuba between Esche's pads at 12:06.
