Meszaros scored 1:58 into overtime and the Tampa Bay Lightning won its third straight with a come-from-behind 2-1 victory on Saturday night.

“It was tough,” Meszaros said. “They played pretty well in the neutral zone, and especially in their defensive zone because we didn’t have many shots.”

Meszaros’ game-winner capped Tampa Bay’s comeback from a one-goal deficit after two periods, in which the Lightning managed just 10 shots on net.

Steven Stamkos, who recorded a career-high nine-game point streak, knotted the game just one minute into the third and Antero Niittymaki held the Flames scoreless through the last two frames to send the game into the extra session, stopping 14 shots on the way to earning a win for the sixth time in his last seven starts.

The Tampa Bay net minder stopped 25 of 26 shots overall.

“I think in the first two periods we played under control,” Calgary head coach Brent Sutter said. “Then early in the third period they got that goal and that gave them some momentum. It was there for us to get two [points] no question, but you expect them to make a push in the third.”

The Lightning have earned at least a point in the last seven out of eight and moved to 9-1-2 in their last 12 games at home.

Mark Giordano scored for the Flames, who fell for the second time in their last five.

Giordano put Calgary up 1-0 on the power play when he sent a wrist shot from the blue line past Niittymaki at 15:44 in the opening period.

Stamkos tied it up with a backhand one minute into the third after a shot deflected off Miikka Kiprusoff’s pad and redirected to the forward’s stick before he buried it in the net while falling on his back.

“You’ve got to give them credit,” Flames captain Jarome Iginla said. “They found a way to get it going in the third. They’re a good offensive team. You can see how they get a little jump, especially at home, and they start bringing it.”

Stamkos has seven goals and 14 points over his nine-game point streak.

Martin St. Louis was credited with an assist on the goal, extending the Lightning winger’s point streak to six games. St. Louis has recorded a point in nine of his last 10.

“That was one of the toughest games for grinding it out,” Tampa Bay head coach Rick Tocchet said. “It was nice in the third period. It seemed like everyone did something to contribute. We really had some energy.”
